Office of the Secretary Eric Chenier
Eric Chenier comes to DFA from the Department of Health, first as Administrative Services Division Director and later as the Deputy Secretary. Previously he served seven years as an analyst at the Legislative Finance Committee, working with the Department of Health, Aging and Long-Term Services, Corrections, Public Safety, and many other state agencies, boards and commissions. Chenier worked to create a new developmental disabilities supports waiver, reduce the list for people waiting to receive services on the state’s Medicaid waivers for people with developmental disabilities, and helped to inform several pieces of guardianship-related Legislation. Eric earned his Master of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico and served three and one-half years in the US Army, including a 15-month tour in Iraq.
