DFA Performance Measures Dashboard – User Guide

Overview
The DFA Performance Measures Dashboard provides a centralized view of agency performance measures across fiscal years. It helps users monitor results, compare historical performance, review quarterly progress, and evaluate targets.

Introduction

Performance measures are an important part of New Mexico's state budgeting process. They help evaluate how effectively state agencies use public resources, deliver services, and achieve their program goals.

Through performance-based budgeting, New Mexico connects agency funding with measurable results to promote accountability, transparency, and informed budget decisions.

The Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), through its State Budget Division (SBD), works with state agencies to establish, monitor, and review performance measures as part of the annual budget process.  This process follows an annual cycle in which SBD, in consultation with the Legislative Finance Committee, reviews and approves or denies requests for new, changed, or removed measures, as well as sets annual targets for them.

Understanding Performance Measures

Performance measures are indicators used to track the progress and effectiveness of government programs. They help determine whether agencies are meeting their objectives and producing meaningful results for New Mexico residents.

Performance Measures Dashboard

The Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) has developed an interactive Power BI dashboard to provide easy access to New Mexico state agencies' performance measures.

The dashboard allows users to explore historical performance results, compare actual results with established targets, monitor quarterly progress, and identify performance trends across agencies and programs.

Through interactive charts, visualizations, and filters, users can gain valuable insights into agency performance, support data-driven decision-making, and better understand how state programs are achieving their goals.

Dashboard Components
