NG911 Core Services (NGCS) provide the software and services required to process, route and manage emergency communications through the NG911 network.

New Mexico's NG911 call-routing environment uses a cloud-based call router designed to provide scalable, resilient and highly available routing services. The routing environment is distributed across three geographically separate data center locations, with multiple availability zones, providing redundancy across infrastructure and helping reduce reliance on any single facility or system component.

NG911 Core Services receives the call, validates the location, applies routing policies and determines the best PSAP for delivery.

These services use location, policy and routing information to determine where a 911 request should be delivered. The routing environment can also support alternate routing, failover and overflow when a PSAP, network path or other system component becomes unavailable.

The distributed architecture provides multiple layers of redundancy to support the availability, reliability and continuity of 911 call routing.

The specific technology supporting these functions may evolve over time, but the underlying purpose remains the same: deliver the right emergency communication to the right PSAP, even when individual components or connections are unavailable.
